There are thousands of species of seaweed. They are responsible for 70 % Of all photosynthesis on earth.
Converting sunlight into food usable by other plants and animals.
The total biomass estimated as more than twice as much as the total mass of all other plants and animals combined. Until a few years ago, seaweed (algae)were classified as primitive plants, but since they do not have roots, stems, leaves, flowers of seeds as a separate kingdom.
It is low in fat and very high in protein with all the essential amino acid and most of the vitamins and all minerals needed for human nutrition.
Both seaweed and plants have in common the ability to convert the sun’s energy into food. Only the leaves of plants have this capability.
Seaweeds (macro algae) are used for a great number of applications by man.
