In earlier times bee honey was looked after treat, being sweet, could be stored for almost unlimited time, a viscose type liquid, nourishing, refreshing source of sugar for Treatment of common illness, treatment of wounds, for nourishment. As a result of all this often used in combination with other products. The Bees have amazing communication and organisational skills. Bee as living insect/animals and honey essential for there survival in Time, will go to great length to make sure there quality is the best. The do carefully select the honey from different source and mix them accordingly for optimal quality and nutritional reasons, essential because of the coming up string/survival of

the species. When a bee finds a good source of nectar it will share this with the hive by performing a 'waggle' dance. Once the nectar is deposited in the honeycomb, a bee will then fan it with its wings until it has reached the perfect consistency for honey.

I am writing here about bee honey and not a surrogate. Bee honey is more expensive and similar product being plant or honey extracted from flowers are on the market. All bee produced honey is fine and has a good quality because the insects do take care of that. However just as human are not all exactly the same bees are not, nor do there surroundings. Bee honey produced in countries like Ireland, Gran Canarias and New Zealand have the best reputation. So any bee honey is good but as you do have some money to spare buy from these island. All three are islands.

Due to cancer research there has been several breakthrough in respect of the properties and health benefits in respect of honey. We know that there are essential nutrient, is a nutrient required for normal human body function that either cannot be synthesized by the body at all, or cannot be synthesized in amounts adequate for good health (e.g. niacin, choline), and thus must be obtained from a dietary source. So you want to know what foods have glutathione in them?

Actually, you will not find glutathione(GSH) in any food sources as it is an endogenous antioxidant, meaning it is made only by our bodies.

Sulphur itself is another basic nutritional medicine that is instrumental in raising glutathione levels. Glutathione is a sulphur-based amino acid, known in biology as the repair amino acid. No sulphur, no glutathione.

So, it just goes to show how important it is to eat fresh fruits and veggies (preferably locally-grown and organic) and fresh, unprocessed meats (preferably range-free and hormone-free). Regardless, however, in our modern world, it is unrealistic to expect to help boost your glutathione(GSH) levels sufficiently just
from your food sources alone. You just simply cannot get the maximum benefit of glutathione from just the foods you eat, worse when you get sick, use medication or stressed the needs do go up. Low glutathione levels, low cg syndrome or low GSH levels are associated with over 74 diseases or conditions and is a major biological player when it comes to dealing with viral infections. Supplemental GSH has been studied extensively and seen to inhibit viral production indicating and has been seen to be valuable in the prevention and treatment of other haemorrhagic viral infections like dengue. Over 98,000 scientific studies and articles on Glutathione are recorded in PubMed, the official U.S. Government library of medical research. Those articles reveal the remarkable role glutathione plays in the protection and function of every cell in the human body and the support of optimal health and function. They also show the terrible consequences of low glutathione levels, and how those lower levels accelerate the aging process.

Glutathione is a sulphur based enzyme and can float up to anything and attach itself to it. It is like sticky flypaper, whatever GSH attaches itself to cannot escape and is removed from the body. GSH is our body's natural scavenger, knows what is normal and belongs and what does not. Obviously, anything that is not normal like bacteria, viruses and fungi will be quickly removed if there is enough GSH present to do the job.

In another major active defensive pathway, glutathione makes sure that all components of the immune system are strong and operating efficiently. Without the interaction of GSH with the immune system it remains weak and unbalanced thus leaving patients with infections, vulnerable to death. It does not matter if a virus or bacteria has mutated or not, it will be recognized by GSH and removed.

GSH is a basic first line of defence and should be used for all life threatening infections. Bottom line when fighting nasty infections—without sufficient GSH you will die. The first step in anti-viral or bacterial medicine is to build the strength of the immune system. Our immune cells are designed to protect us, but what protects the immune cell? Glutathione is the protector of the immune cell and allows newly formed immune cells to proliferate to attack germs and viruses. Glutathione feeds, protects, and strengthens our immune system. Glutathione boosts white blood cell production to fight infection, particularly the T-cells, which are called lymphocytes. T-cells are at the core of our immunity, and tailor the body's immune response to pathogens, viral and bacterial infections or anything the cells recognize as being invasive. Studies have shown that Glutathione is food for the immune cells, boosting the strength of lymphocytes. B-cell lymphocytes identify the unwanted pathogen that the T-cells then attack.

It is used in metabolic and biochemical reactions such as DNA synthesis and repair, protein synthesis, prostaglandin synthesis, amino acid transport, and enzyme activation. Thus, every system in the body can be affected by the state of the glutathione system, especially the immune system, the nervous system, the gastrointestinal system and the lungs.

You must supply your diet with supplements that also help your body to produce more glutathione when needed.

Supplements that truly help boost your glutathione(GSH) levels are supplements that contain glutathione precursors. The pre-cursors of glutathione synthesis are the amino acids glutamate, glycine and cysteine, with cysteine being the most important amino acid. As people age or experience disease, glutathione levels in the blood decrease, causing a reduction in this life-sustaining antioxidant. Dietary sources of glutathione are therefore necessary to replenish stores and avoid losses.

Magnesium deficiencies cause glutathione depletion and production of glutathione is also dependent on magnesium. Glutathione synthetises requires-glutamyl cysteine, glycine, ATP, and magnesium ions to form glutathione.

Cancer research.

 

Biochemist Heidrun Gross and colleagues from the University of California, Davis fed 25 study participants about four tablespoons each of buckwheat honey daily for 29 days in addition to their regular diets. The volunteers were divided into two groups receiving honey that provided different amounts of polyphenols - compounds found in fruits, vegetables and seeds that have been linked to a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer. The researchers drew blood samples from the participants at given intervals following honey consumption. They found that there was a direct link between the honey consumption and the level of polyphenol antioxidants in the plasma.

Polyphenols have been shown to have antioxidant properties, supporting use of honey as a functional food. Previous research had shown that a single dose of honey can boost antioxidants, but the new research is thought to be the first study of daily honey consumption.

Natural honeybee products such as propolis, royal jelly, caffeic acid, honey and venom could one day be used to help prevent cancer, say Croatian researchers. The bee products significantly decreased tumour growth and spreading of the cancer (metastasis) in mice when they were applied orally or by injection, report the team from the University of Zagreb in this month's issue of the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture.

Nada Orsolic and colleagues tested both the preventative and curative effects of the bee products on tumour models in mice. In the prevention studies, the products were administered before inoculation with the tumour cells. In the curative studies, the products were administered after tumour inoculation. "The effects of the tested compounds were demonstrated either by inhibition of tumour growth or metastases (secondary tumour) formation and by increased survival of the animals," said Dr Orsolic.

Propolis, a resin-like substance used in the construction of honeycombs, and a chemical found in propolis called caffeic acid significantly reduced subcutaneous tumour growth and prolonged the survival of mice.

Honey also inhibited the spread of the tumour when applied before tumour cell inoculation in the lungs.

Royal jelly, used as food for young bee larvae made by worker bees, also significantly inhibited tumour spread when injected at the same time as tumour cells.

When bee venom was injected intra-tumour ally, tumour shrinkage occurred, and the delay of tumour growth was evident. Meanwhile mice treated with bee venom survived longer than control mice. The way in which the bee products work to combat the tumours is not clear, but the authors suggest the chemicals cause apoptosis (cell suicide) or necrosis of the cancerous cells, or that they exert directly toxic or immune=modulatory effects. They may also reduce harmful ox radicals in cells or body fluids, said the Croatian team. Their findings could be supported by further trials on humans they add. "These results suggest the benefits of potential clinical trials using propolis or honey, combined with chemotherapeutic agents," said Dr Orsolic. 

The effect of topical application of pure honey on radiation-induced mucositis: a randomized clinical trial. AIM: Radiation-induced mucositis is an early effect of head and neck radiotherapy. Mucositis can cause ulcers, and patients may experience pain and dysphasia, which need treatment. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of pure natural honey on radiation induced mucositis.

METHODS AND MATERIALS: In this randomized single blind (examiner blind) clinical trial 40 patients with head and neck cancer requiring radiation to the oropharyngeal mucosa were randomly assigned to two groups. Twenty patients assigned to the study group received honey, while both the study and control groups received standard head and neck radiation therapy based on a standard protocol. In the study group patients were instructed to take 20 ml of honey 15 minutes before radiation therapy, then again at intervals of 15 minutes and six hours after radiation. In the control group patients were instructed to rinse with 20 ml of saline before and after radiation. Patients were evaluated weekly for progression of mucositis using the Oral Mucositis Assessing Scale (OMAS). Data were analysed using the independent t-test, Mann-Whitney, and Friedman tests.

RESULTS: A significant reduction in mucositis among honey-received patients compared with controls (p=0.000) occurred.

CONCLUSION: Within the limits of this study the results showed the application of natural honey is effective in managing radiation induced mucositis.

CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Natural honey is a product with rich nutritional qualities that could be a pleasant, simple, and economic modality for the management of radiation mucositis.
